INSTRUCTIONAL ROLE OF A COMPUTER

    Computers are extremely important in the modern world of today. In the fast moving life of the modern  computers hold tremendous significance.Computers have become an electronic device of almost every day use for individuals of every age.They are essential in almost all the teaching  learning that are made nowadays.  Computers have gained significance as they have improved the efficiency and productivity of work done.
     
    As a future teacher like me being knowledgeable in using computer is a good factor that may help in my teaching profession.We must be an effective teacher in explaining the instructional role of a computer, that computer must be a tutor the teacher must ensure that students have the needed knowledge and skills for any computer activity,the teacher must plan the sequential and structured activities to achieve the objectives.The teacher must evaluate the students’achievement by ways that tests specific expected outcomes. 
   
    The function as a computer tool, it is medium to learn,the classroom computer need only have some useful capability programmed into it such as statistical analysis, super calculation, or word processing. Students can then use it to help them in a variety of subjects. For example, they might use it as a calculator in math and various science assignments etc..The best example of tool is world wide web.

  
 
   To use the computer as tutee is to tutor the computer; for that, the student or teacher doing the tutoring must learn to program, to talk to the computer in a language it understands. The benefits are several. First, because you can't teach what you don't understand, the human tutor will learn what he or she is trying to teach the computer. Second, by trying to realize broad teaching goals through software constructed from the narrow capabilities of computer logic, the human tutor of the computer will learn something both about how computers work and how his or her own thinking works. Third, because no expensive predesigned tutor software is necessary, no time is lost searching for such software and no money spent acquiring it.  

    Teachers make more effective in applying and teaching computer if he or she must know first the role of a computer as a tool in teaching learning.
